Elektron Syntakt Ultimate Bundle – Analog and Digital Drums, Each on Its Own Output

Syntakt fuses 8 digital and 3 analog tracks with a dedicated FX track in one groovebox. The Ultimate bundle adds Outbox 8 so those tracks leave the box separately, the OH-7 Overhub so Syntakt, Outbox and a laptop share one stable USB 3.0 hub, and the Analog Cases Pulse case so the whole rig travels as one piece. The Syntakt puts eight digital tracks and four analogue voices under one sequencer, with a dedicated FX track on top. This set adds the Outbox 8 so the analogue kick and the digital percussion can leave on separate jacks, the OH-7 Overhub so the machines and the computer share one connection, and the Analog Cases Pulse Case for the trip out. It suits producers who mix on hardware and players who want the analogue voices treated individually.

Eight configurable 1/4 inch jacks over one USB-C connection. The analogue kick can take its own compressor while the digital tracks go elsewhere, and the same jacks send control voltage to a modular case.

Analog Cases Pulse Case

A moulded EVA shell cut to the Elektron desktop chassis. It keeps its shape in a rucksack, holds the machine and its power supply, and adds almost nothing to the weight.

Setting it up

  1. Connect the Outbox 8 to the Syntakt with the supplied USB-C to USB-B cable and power it from its own USB-C input.
  2. Open the Outbox 8 page on the Syntakt and assign the eight jacks to audio, CV or a mix.
  3. Route the analogue voices and any digital tracks that need separate treatment to the desk; the rest stays on the main pair.
  4. Add the OH-7 Overhub when the computer joins, so the Syntakt and the Outbox 8 each keep a stable port.
  5. Pack the Syntakt and its PSU-3c into the Pulse Case for travel.

Questions

How are the twelve tracks divided?

Eight digital tracks, three analogue drum tracks and one analogue cymbal track, plus a dedicated FX track that can be sequenced and parameter locked like any other.

Does the Syntakt sample?

No. It is a synthesis machine, although the digital side includes a sample player machine. For sampling in the same family, that is the Digitakt II or Tonverk.

Can I configure the Outbox 8 from the machine itself?

Yes. Digitakt I and II, Digitone I, II and Keys, Syntakt, Analog Rytm MKII, Analog Four MKII and the Analog Heat models set the outputs up in-device. The browser Web App is only needed for machines without that support.

Are the Outbox 8 outputs balanced?

They are impedance-balanced and DC-coupled, running 48 kHz 32-bit converters. Being DC-coupled is what lets the same jacks carry either audio or control voltage up to plus or minus 5 V.

Does the Outbox 8 record audio in?

No. It is outputs only, with no inputs and no preamps, so it adds routing rather than replacing a recording interface.

Can it drive a modular rack?

Yes. Each jack can send pitch as V/Oct or Hz/V, gate, trig, linear value or clock at plus or minus 5 V, so the machine or a DAW sequences Eurorack without a separate MIDI-to-CV module.

Why a powered hub instead of the ports on a laptop?

Overbridge machines and the Outbox 8 each want their own stable connection. The OH-7 turns one host port into seven USB 3.0 ports at up to 5 Gbit/s, so the desk grows without unplugging anything.

Does the case take the power supply too?

Yes. The Pulse Case is cut to the Digitakt, Digitone and Syntakt chassis and has a storage pocket for the PSU-3c and cables.
