Marantz MCR 60n + Bowers & Wilkins 607 S3 – The Whole Hi-Fi Shelf in Two Boxes

Everything a music room needs, ordered once: the Marantz MCR 60n DAB all-in-one system and a pair of Bowers & Wilkins 607 S3 bookshelf speakers. CD, records, DAB+ radio, HEOS streaming and the TV over HDMI eARC all come out of one compact Marantz chassis, and the 607 S3 turns that into a proper stereo image. No receiver to pick, no DAC to match, no cables to guess. At Soundium this is the shortest route from an empty shelf to a working system.

In This Setup

  • Marantz MCR 60n DAB – compact all-in-one with front-loading CD, MM phono stage, HEOS streaming, DAB+ and HDMI eARC, 2 x 65 W into 4 ohms from four amplifier channels. Matte Black or Marantz Champagne.
  • Bowers & Wilkins 607 S3 (pair) – compact 600 Series standmounts with Titanium Dome tweeter, Continuum cone mid/bass driver and rear Flowport. Black, Oak or White.

Why This Combination

  • Right amount of power: 65 W per channel is exactly what a 607 S3 wants in a small to medium room – enough headroom, no waste.
  • Every source already inside: disc, vinyl, radio, streaming and TV audio are all in the MCR 60n, so the speakers are the only thing left to add.
  • Two finishes each: pair Matte Black with Black or Oak, or Marantz Champagne with Oak or White – the set is priced the same whichever you choose.

Set price includes both products; speaker cable is sold separately.

One box. Every source.

One box. Every source.

A complete Marantz shelf system with the compact 600 Series standmount from Bowers & Wilkins.

This is the whole hi-fi in two parts. The MCR 60n DAB holds the CD player, the phono stage, DAB+ radio, HEOS streaming and four amplifier channels in a chassis the size of a hardback book, and the 607 S3 turns that into proper stereo with a Continuum cone and a Titanium Dome tweeter. It is built for small and medium rooms where a rack of separates was never on the table.

  • CD, vinyl, radio and streaming in one box
  • 65 W per channel into 4 Ω
  • HDMI eARC for television sound
  • Continuum cone standmounts
  • Fits a shelf, not a rack
The system

Marantz MCR 60n DAB

One chassis holds a front-loading CD mechanism, an MM phono stage, DAB+ and FM radio, HEOS streaming and four channels of amplification. HDMI eARC brings the television in on the same remote. It takes the footprint of a hardback book, so it works where a stack of separates never would.

  • 65 W per channel into 4 Ω, or four channels of 33 W for bi-amping and BTL
  • Front-loading CD player, plus DAB/DAB+, FM and internet radio
  • MM phono input, so a turntable connects without an external stage
  • HDMI eARC/ARC for television sound
  • HEOS, AirPlay 2, Roon Ready, Spotify Connect, TIDAL and Bluetooth

The speakers

Bowers & Wilkins 607 S3

The smallest 600 Series standmount pairs a 25 mm Titanium Dome tweeter with a 130 mm Continuum cone. The cabinet is a vented box with a rear Flowport, so it wants a little air behind it. At 300 mm tall it suits a shelf, a stand or a desk.

  • 25 mm Titanium Dome tweeter
  • 130 mm Continuum cone bass/midrange driver
  • 2-way vented-box cabinet with rear Flowport
  • 52 Hz – 28 kHz (±3 dB), 84 dB sensitivity
  • Black, White and Oak finishes with magnetic grilles

Setting it up

  1. Stand the 607 S3 pair at ear height on stands or a shelf, with a hand's width behind each cabinet for the rear Flowport.
  2. Run two lengths of speaker cable to the Speaker A terminals on the MCR 60n; the screw terminals take bare wire or pins.
  3. Connect the television to the HDMI eARC socket, and a turntable with an MM cartridge to the phono input.
  4. Fit the supplied aerial, then join the MCR 60n to Wi-Fi or Ethernet and finish setup in the HEOS app.
  5. Save your everyday sources to the four Smart Select presets so each one is a single button.

Questions

Do I need a separate amplifier?

No. The MCR 60n has four amplifier channels built in, rated at 2 × 65 W into 4 Ω. Speaker cable from the receiver to the 607 S3 is the only link you need.

Is the MCR 60n powerful enough for the 607 S3?

Bowers & Wilkins specifies 30 – 100 W into 8 Ω for the 607 S3, and Marantz rates the MCR 60n at 65 W per channel into 4 Ω. We pair them for small and medium rooms at normal listening levels rather than for large open-plan spaces.

Can I connect a turntable?

Yes, directly. The MCR 60n has an MM phono input rated 2.5 mV/47 kΩ. A moving coil cartridge would need an external step-up stage first.

Will it handle the television?

Yes. The HDMI socket supports eARC and ARC, so the TV feeds its sound back down the same cable and the set's remote can control volume.

Which streaming services are supported?

HEOS covers Spotify Connect, TIDAL, Deezer, Amazon Music and internet radio, and the receiver is Roon Ready with AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth for anything else.

Do the speakers come as a pair?

Yes. The 607 S3 box in this set contains two speakers, two magnetic grilles, foam port plugs and rubber feet.

Can I add a subwoofer later?

Yes. The MCR 60n has a subwoofer pre-out with an adjustable crossover, so a powered sub connects with one RCA cable.
