ADAM Audio H715 Reference: ADAM's Flagship Open-Back Headphones Are Here

Adam Audio H715 Reference headphones worn around the neck

ADAM Audio has spent decades building monitors for treated rooms. The H715 Reference is its attempt to put that experience on your head: an open-back flagship that ADAM itself pitches as a genuine alternative to its full-range systems.

It sits well above the closed-back H200 in the range. 40 mm titanium-plated PEN drivers, 150 Ω, a quoted 9 Hz to 40 kHz response, a dedicated balanced Hi-Fi mode, and a software suite built with Sonnox. At Soundium it's €659, and it's open for pre-order now.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Titanium-plated PEN drivers. Custom 40 mm diaphragms with neodymium magnets, tuned suspension and a patent-pending ventilation system. ADAM quotes 9 Hz to 40 kHz at -3 dB and under 0.05% THD at 100 dB SPL, so the low end you hear is the low end in the mix.
  • A real Hi-Fi mode. Pop in the included metal pin and the H715 runs true balanced audio from differential amplifiers. One pair of headphones for the studio day and the listening evening.
  • Software that does the room's job. The Headphone Utility Plug-In sits on your DAW's master or monitoring channel, and ListenHub by Sonnox adds system-wide calibration, metering, referencing and imaging tools.
  • Built to be serviced. Replaceable ear pads and headband pad, detachable cables, cable entry on either side, lay-flat design and a hard carry case. Around 300 g without the cable.

Who It's For

  • Mixing and mastering engineers who want a headphone reference they can trust next to their monitors.
  • Producers who mix in rooms that aren't treated, or who travel and need the same picture everywhere.
  • Listeners with a balanced headphone amp who want one pair for work and for Hi-Fi.

Who should look elsewhere: if you need isolation for tracking vocals or work in a noisy space, open-back is the wrong tool. The closed-back ADAM H200 is the better fit there, at a fraction of the price.

Pros & Cons

Cons: open-back leaks sound, so it's no tracking headphone; 150 Ω wants a capable headphone amp to shine.

Final Thoughts

The H715 Reference isn't trying to be a cheap way into ADAM's sound. It's the company's top-end answer to a problem every engineer knows: the mix that sounds right on headphones and wrong everywhere else. Serious drivers, a proper balanced mode and calibration software in the box make it one of the most interesting studio headphone launches this autumn.
