The completely redesigned 16A has everything you need to turn your computer into a powerful 24-bit/192 kHz digital audio workstation.
The 16A connects to a Mac, PC or iOS device via the included 40 Gbps USB-C cable (compatible with Thunderbolt 3/4, USB4, USB3 and USB2) and offers up to 256 channels of audio (128 inputs and 128 outputs) depending on the host computer connection. With Class Compliant compatibility and proven MOTU drivers, it works with all favorite audio applications and offers industry-leading ultra-low round-trip latency (RTL) of less than 2 ms at 96 kHz with powerful DAW hosts. USB Class Compliant compliant firmware allows connection to an iPad™ or any iOS™ device via USB-C or a standard camera connection kit (Lightning adapter, sold separately).
The 16A is equally suitable for studio and stage. As an interface or standalone mixer, it offers 32 separate inputs and 34 separate outputs, including 16 balanced 1/4-inch analog jack inputs/outputs (line level), two banks of 8-channel optical inputs/outputs and a front-panel headphone output. The renowned ESS Sabre32™ DAC technology delivers outstanding analog performance.
The 16A has an integrated AVB switch with two Gigabit Ethernet ports that can be used to connect multiple 16A units via standard network cables. Alternatively, the network can be expanded by connecting an external AVB switch to create a network with multiple interfaces, computers and extremely low network latency, even over long cable runs (hundreds of meters).
Control all settings and the mix from your USB host or from an iPhone or iPad running the CueMix Pro app. You can even use several iOS devices at the same time. Set a password for your Motu system to secure the network.
CueMix Pro for Mac, Windows and iOS provides simple but comprehensive graphical control of all MOTU 16A functions and mix busses in an attractive and modern interface. The integrated effects such as parametric EQ, gate, compressor and reverb can be configured quickly and conveniently.
All analog outputs are DC-coupled. This means that you can use the 16A to control and edit modular synthesizers from audio software using a control voltage (CV).
Two optical banks offer 16 optical ADAT channels at 48 kHz, 8 optical S/MUX channels at 96 kHz and optional stereo TOSLink at rates up to 96 kHz. Expand your 16A with other devices or use it as an optical expander.
